About Us

Since 1983 we have a passion for building something special. From our history as building material distributors we now offer our clients structural engineering services for steel, concrete and wood structures.

We along with our associates and partners have adopted an open interactive approach to design and analysis. We are constantly adapting and adopting successful and innovative building approaches to benefit our clients, society and the environment.





Structural Engineering

Based solidly on applied physical laws and empirical knowledge of the structural performance of different materials and geometries, D'Agostino & Associates has evolved to meet changing needs of society and their clients. We apply the principles of statics and dynamics to calculate stability, strength and rigidity of structures to design and analyse complex structural systems to safely resist loading in different environments and conditions.

As structural engineers we are responsible for making creative and efficient use of funds, structural elements and materials to achieve these goals. In today's sustainable evironment, we as structural engineers now must consider the social, economic and evironmental impact as the true cost of our designs.





Building Envelope

The building envelopes plays an important role in protecting the building and its contents from the elements and for how it affects total building energy use. Basic building envelope attributes assess insulation values, window to wall ratios, glazing characteristics, shading, orientation of glazing, and window operability.

In a sustainable society, the design team looks to optimize synergies between the building envelope system and other considerations such as rain water management, heat island reduction, water usage, energy performance, thermal comfort, interior lighting etc.

Building envelope strategies will allow building owners to improve occupant comfort while minimizing energy and water use.





Energy Modeling

Buildings consume the majority share of all of the energy produced in the Canada and United States. With construction projects ramping up over the next several years, it's critical that engineers prioritize energy performance in their designs.

We perform preliminary simple mass energy modelling for new construction and major renovations to explore how to reduce energy loads in the building and accomplish related sustainable goals. Beginning in pre-design and running throught out the the design phases we are constantly looking for syngergies accross the building systems.





Data Services
Live Monitoring
Live monitoring and storage of metered and sub-metered utilites, water eletectricity, thermostats, etc. Instantaneous data.


Analyse
Compare data with baseline, performance vs indoor and outdoor environment data. Reconcile usage and billing.



Reporting
Live periodic interface and reporting to US/CA Green Building Council. Compare actual data vs expected.

An integrative process is a comprehensive approach to building systems and equipment. Project team members look for synergies among systems and components, mutual advantages that can help acheive high levels of buidling performances, human comfort, and environmental benefits. The process should involve rigourous questioning and coordination and challenge typical project assumptions. Team members collaborate to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of every system. Green building process is interdiciplinary, iterative, and collaborative.

As a team member we collaborate, involve, consult and share information with other structural engineers, civil engineers, mep engineers, architects, contractors, application developers, planners, product manufacturers, real estate agents and brokers and innovators that may contribute to the project for the advancement of sustainable solutions.
